Photo Alain Roberge, La Presse David saw the TNM production of Le Mariage de Figaro in Montreal on Feb. 7, 2009 . . . the lead role played by his ex-class mate Emmanuel Bilodeau.
(various useful notes available here, in french)
Notable for the awkward karoake moments: where was that orchestra anyways? The Cherubin was a downy-soft teen star ripe for peeling between the pages of Teen Beat. A heavy synthesis of the play and the opera, the final scene of this play production was a rousing performance with mylar streamers (as fireworks) shooting out of confetti cannons over canned orchestral and chorus support . . . worthy of a performance in the Pen Centre, anyday. The audience - as we have come to expect in Quebec - went gaga, and satisfaction was meted out in splendid appreciation. bravo!
